City getting new broadband provider

FLORENCE — Broadband Internet access is rapidly becoming the new essential utility, especially for economic development, and the city is getting another service provider.


“It’s as crucial as electricity was 75 years ago,” said Giles McDaniel, director of the Shoals Entrepreneurial Center. “In Tennessee, for instance, a new study is showing 43 percent of net new jobs and 66 percent of revenues were created because of access to broadband.
